Karnataka government is likely to increase tax on alcohol Bengaluru The state government is likely to increase the excise duty on all alcohol products to fund the implementation of five guarantee schemes. It can be recalled that CM Siddaramaiah who is also the state finance minister has estimated Rs.59,000 crores requirement to implement the five guarantee schemes announced by the party ahead of the state assembly polls. According to the sources, the state government proposed increasing the excise duty on alcohal products by 10% to 25%. This means liquor will become more costlier in the state. If this increase is made beer cost is likely to go up by Rs.10 to Rs.20. As expected the liqior lovers opposed the state governments move. BJP to join hands with JD(S) in Karnataka? Bengaluru BJP which lost power in recenly held Karnataka assembly election is all set to join hands with JD(S) for the upcoming Loksabha elections 2024. Sources in the both BJP and JDS confirmed that both the parties already started negotiations over the seat sharing.
